Did you know that Bambi has a Ginny connection? And no, it isn’t this one.

All will be revealed…TODAY IN GINNY!

Lucien Littlefield (1895) is a three time TIGer. He appeared with the feisty one as a toymaker in SOULS AT SEA (1937), as Robert Johnson in SCANDAL STREET (1938), and as Herb, the Western Union man in THIS TIME FOR KEEPS (1942). Littlefield lasted through 281 roles according to IMDb. He acted with DeMille and David Belasco as his directing/writing team in 1914 and he worked with Ozzie Nelson and Jay Sommers in the same roles in 1958. His type was the mild mannered little guy. He’s seen here delivering a telegram to Guy Kibbee in TTFK.

    W. Howard Greene (1895) was the cinematographer on MEN WITH WINGS (1938). He won an Oscar for PHANTOM OF THE OPERA-didn’t we just have an Oscar winner from that film?-and was nominated six other times. He also received two honorary awards from the Academy for his work. At the end of his career he did a film I really like, THE VIOLENT MEN.  No photo available.

Bennie Bartlett (1924) was a contemporary child actor with Virginia and showed up in three films with her. He was Jimmy in TIMOTHY’S QUEST (1936). Ginny was actually the bad girl in that one. He then showed up as Timothy in MAID OF SALEM (1937) and as Davy McCarthy in THE GREAT MAN VOTES (1939). Bennie got his start as a child prodigy pianist in his earliest work. He left the movies for the military during World War II and returned to take a regular role the Gas House Comedies and then in later editions of the Bowery Boys playing Butch Williams. He left the series and the business in the mid-1950s. He’s seen here behind the scenes with Ginny during the MoS shoot.

At age four, Donnie Dunagan (1934) was Peter Carey in MOTHER CAREY’S CHICKENS, a film that ended Katharine Hepburn’s relationship with RKO because she refused to appear in it. The next year he would appear in SON OF FRANKENSTEIN and by 1942 he would be the voice of young Bambi in BAMBI. He was a Marine from 1952 to 1977 and supposedly hid his Bambi past from his fellow soldiers.
